What is acrylic? glass or plexiglass? Are acrylic signs the same thing as plexiglass signs?

Acrylic is a hard plastic, not glass. While it is a lightweight yet durable sign, it is not unbreakable. Acrylic signs are generally used indoors but can also be used outdoors. Acrylic or polyacrylate (a type of plastic) is simply the type of material itself. Different brands like Plexiglas, Perspex, and Lucite are all actually acrylics but carry their own brand names. So acrylic (signs) is the same thing as plexiglass (signs). There are some different types of acrylic, including Lexan. Lexan (a polycarbonate) is used as bulletproof glass, among other applications, but is typically not an ideal material for signage due to its tendency to yellow in the sun, prone to scratches, and high cost.

How thick is your acrylic? Do you offer different thickness options?
Our acrylic signs are .125” or approximately 3mm thick. .125” acrylic is the default thickness available on our website. You can also choose 6mm (1/4” or .25”) during the design process.
How do I know where my acrylic sign will be clear?
Clear is indicated by a gray and white squared area on our site. If you want any part of your acrylic sign to be clear, that background needs to be visible in your proof. To get that checkered area, go to the color panel and select “Clear” while selecting your entire mark (or the object you want to clear). If you have uploaded a JPG file with a white background to the site, we will print that background white. Please upload a transparent PNG if you want it to be clear instead. If you offer free shipping, why is the shipping fee so high?
Shipping is free for orders over 75 TL. However, this excludes solid marks over 36" or any order that requires freight shipping. Large solid signs require special packaging and often trigger significantly more expensive freight shipping. Unfortunately, the 36" threshold is a shipping industry rule and beyond. our control in our ability to otherwise dispatch these great signs.
Can I drill my own holes?
Yes. You can certainly drill your own holes if you wish. Although you are drilling your own holes, we cannot replace, repair or return the plate for any damage caused by your drilling efforts. Any common drill with the appropriate bit will work with your acrylic sign.
I need holes drilled in special locations / Can I drill more than four holes?
Yes you can. Simply select the "Custom" option from the "Drilled Holes" drop-down menu in the design tool. For these requests, please specify your requirements in the customer comments section of the checkout page. Custom drilled holes will add an additional charge to your order.
What sizes do you offer? Are there any minimum or maximum dimensions that my sign must conform to?
Acrylic signs really come in all shapes and sizes. We offer any custom size you may need as long as the dimensions are no smaller than 4” or larger than 96”. Standard acrylic sign sizes we offer include: 12"x12", 24"x12", 36"x18", 2'x4', 4'x4', 4'x8'.
What is the lifespan of your custom acrylic signs?
The lifespan of your acrylic sign will largely depend on how you use it and what care is taken. With proper care and placement, your acrylic sign should last at least 5 years.
Do you offer double sided acrylic signs?
It is not possible to make double-sided signage for the transparent/transparent acrylic offered on our site. The best way to get a double-sided look is to buy two signs and put them back-to-back. If that's what you're looking for, please avoid clear areas in your signage so you can place them back-to-back without seeing them.
Will my design increase the cost of the sign? / Does 1 or 2 color printing reduce costs?
We always print in full colour, so we don't charge more or less based on your graphic. For any type of design, we offer free design services if you need help designing your sign. Therefore, the cost of your sign will depend on its size, the options to choose from, and how many pieces you order.
Can I route or cut my acrylic signage in certain ways?
Yeah! You can choose from many different shape options for your acrylic signs, including Square/Rectangle, Rounded Corners (¼" or 1" radius), Circle/Oval, Custom or Custom Border. The custom shape option (formerly known as Contour Cut) allows you to load a custom shape into our design tool or let us create a custom shape for your sign based on your design. The Bordered Custom shape option (formerly known as Halo Cut) is similar to the Custom shape option but leaves a small border on the edge of your design. While there are limits to the thickness of the cut (it won't be very thin and durable), in most cases we can cut and shape your sign. Any acrylic sign that is ordered as a Custom or Custom Border that may cause problems will be inspected by us before it is produced. In these cases, we will contact you to review your options and help you create the custom mark you want/need.
Are your acrylic signs matte or glossy?
Our acrylic signs will have a light satiny feel where they are printed. Otherwise, acrylic signs have a glossy shine to them. This is especially true for marks printed on the backside (“second surface”) of acrylic. This gloss is a glossy or glossy type of appearance that makes the sign look extremely good without adversely affecting the legibility of the sign.
Are you printing on acrylic or do you have a piece of vinyl wrap?
We print directly onto the material for all our signage, including acrylic. In our experience, printing directly onto acrylic gives the sign a more durable surface.
Can laminate veneer or enamel be placed on top of my sign to protect the printed portion of my sign?
Yes, we can laminate the printed portion of your sign. To do this, you must contact us to discuss this option. Instead, we recommend choosing “Second Surface” when designing your acrylic sign. This will ensure the design is printed on the back of the acrylic and will protect the printed part of the sign from accidental scratching or damage.
What color is the default acrylic?
Our standard acrylics are a clear/transparent material.
Are contrasts included in my acrylic signs?
As an additional option we provide contrasts for your custom acrylic signage. You can select this option when designing your sign in the design tool. Just choose the option and your acrylic sign will come with a package of contrasts. More specifically, it will include wall anchors, screws, and the separation tube and cap. The tips themselves are 0.5” in diameter and 3/4” long. If you choose splits, you do not need to choose drilled holes. Additional contrasts can be purchased by contacting us.
What can acrylic signs be used for?
Acrylic signage can be used in a variety of ways. The most common uses are room plaque and number signs, receptionist areas, building directories, etc. Includes internal beacons in office environments, including Acrylic signs are often used for exterior purposes, including business signage in commercial business parks and entrance signs. Yes. Acrylic signs are a great option for both indoor and outdoor use. They are perfectly usable outdoors while the chances of them getting scratched or damaged increase when using them outdoors. We recommend printing "second surface" signs for outdoor use to help keep the printed part lively and free from potential damage.
Will my acrylic signs fade or scratch?
In normal daily use, your acrylic should not be scratched. However, acrylic can be susceptible to scratches. To avoid scratching your sign, be careful not to touch or rub your sign with other sharp surfaces or objects when handling, shipping and storing it. The actual printed area of ​​your mark should not fade over time. We print directly onto acrylic surface with weatherproof, fade and abrasion resistant UV ink. Printed parts of the mark can be scratched or erased. Therefore, we recommend printing on the reverse side of the sign whenever possible.
Will my acrylic sign bend?
Your sign will have a little twist. Depending on the size of your acrylic sign, you will see more or less warping. It is much more prominent with larger markings. Whether you order a small or large sign, with acrylic, flexibility should not be a concern for everyday use. Acrylic is a hard plastic, not glass. We also recommend some form of medium support for very large signs.
How do I set up my acrylic signs / Where can I hang my sign?
Acrylic signs can be placed or hung both indoors and outdoors. Regardless of where they are hung, they are usually attached to hard surfaces such as wood, metal, concrete or even drywall. We recommend choosing drilled holes and uprights when ordering your sign so that you can easily hang your sign wherever you want. The standoffs come with wall anchors and screws that can be used to hang your sign. To install your sign, you must drill a pilot hole before placing the anchor. You can then drill your screw into the anchor on the hard surface. Finally, screw the spacer cap for each drilled hole in your sign. How do I wash my acrylic sign?
You can clean your acrylic sign using a wet non-abrasive cloth or rag using water or a mild detergent. Regular cleaning will keep your sign and the printed part of the sign clear and vibrant.
How do I store my acrylic signs?
Storing your acrylic signs is easy. It is sufficient to store them in a cool and dry place at room temperature. Do not rub or scrape against abrasive or sharp objects to avoid scratching them. If you're storing more than one together, we recommend covering them up or placing some sort of soft fabric between the marks.
